The Serious Incident Response Scheme (SIRS) helps protect older people in aged care by ensuring every serious incident is reported, managed, and prevented. In this short course, you’ll learn what incidents must be reported, how to respond safely, and your responsibilities under SIRS. Build confidence in recognising risks, supporting residents, and promoting a culture of safety and respect in aged care. By the end of this course, you will be able to: - Explain the purpose and importance of the Serious Incident Response Scheme. - Identify the eight types of reportable incidents in aged care. -Distinguish between Priority 1 and Priority 2 incidents. - Respond appropriately to serious incidents to ensure safety and support. - Report and record incidents according to SIRS requirements. - Contribute to a safe, transparent, and learning-focused workplace culture. This course can be completed in 60 minutes (depending on coffee/tea/bathroom breaks and interruptions). Designed with simple language and a certificate of completion that you can reference in your resume or provide to your employer/clients.
