This course is designed to provide aged care professionals, caregivers, and support staff with a comprehensive understanding of sexuality and relationships for individuals residing in aged care facilities and services in Australia. It aims to address the unique needs and challenges faced by older adults in expressing their sexuality and forming meaningful relationships. The course will empower participants with knowledge, skills, and strategies to support residents in maintaining their sexual health, dignity, and autonomy. By the end of this course, participants will: • Understand the concepts of sexuality and relationships within the context of aged care. • Recognise the rights of older adults to express their sexuality and form relationships. • Identify the challenges faced by older adults in expressing their sexuality. • Develop skills to facilitate discussions about sexuality and relationships with residents. • Understand the role of aged care staff in supporting sexual health and well-being. • Explore resources and strategies to promote a positive and inclusive environment for sexuality in aged care settings. This course can be completed in 60 minutes (depending on coffee/tea/bathroom breaks and interruptions). Designed with simple language and a certificate of completion that you can reference in your resume or provide to your employer/clients.
